Our last stop on the tour was Goodfella's.
Goodfella's uses a rotating wood oven - there is a wheel that constantly rotates the pizzas towards the fire.

They have won the "World's Best Pizza" title at the International Pizza Expo several times.
I can see why; the pizza was delicious.

Goodfella's is also home to "Forkgate".
The new NYC Mayor ate here and ate his pizza with a fork! The horror!
They have the actual fork in the restaurant. All in good fun.

It was the most non-New York style pizza that we sampled, but it was really good.
It was definitely the most beautiful pizza we ate on the tour.

Goodfella's uses fresh mozzarella and lots of it.
It had a high cheese to sauce ratio. Chicken Legs was very happy about this.
In addition to the cheese pizza, we sampled an amazing Smoked Buffalo Chicken Pizza.
The owner, Andrew Scudera, demonstrated his creation for us.
He baked the pizza and then put it under a dome and smoked it.
It was CRAZY! In a good way.
The pizza tasted amazing! Seriously delicious!
It was a great way to end the tour.

A 1000 mile coincidence over Pizza

Meet Derek Gytenbeek. He is our friend all the way from Newfoudland Canada. We meet every year the the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, NV for a pizza competition. This year, Derek decided to travel on his awesome bike down from Canada to New York to the world famous Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza and the Pizza School of NY.

Derek worked with Megan Odea from Pi Gourmet Eatery and is pictured on the right next to Andrew Scudera of the Pizza School of NY.

After enjoying the Pizza alla Vodka - a creation invented 23 years ago by Goodfella's, Derek hopped back on his bike and headed to NYC for some touring.

An hour later, this young couple arrived... also from out of state.

On their way out after enjoying some brick oven pizza, they told us of how they heard of Goodfella's. They said that about a month ago they were in Vermont doing a bike tour. During the tour, they saw a young man with his bike loaded to the hilt with travel gear and decided to stop and talk to him about his travels and where he was headed. He told the couple that he was traveling from Newfoundland to NYC to pay a visit to his friends at Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza, and from there was going to ride on down to South America.

I asked the couple, "did his name happen to be Derek?". They said yes!!!!! I showed them the picture that I took with Derek just 1 hour before and they were in total shock!!!

What are the chances!!!!

Sharrif Floyd, the defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings stopped by the Original Goodfella's of Hylan Blvd Saturday for some delicious Wood Fired Brick Oven Pizza and sampled 4 of the World's Best Pizza Winners: The Pizza Alla Vodka, Smokin Goodfella, Crustation Sensation, and the Tequila Pizza!!!
